The Edward Said Public Library (ESPL), founded in 2019, honours the legacy of Edward Wadie Said, the Palestinian-American scholar, literary critic, and advocate renowned for his groundbreaking work “Orientalism” and unwavering commitment to Palestinian rights. 

With branches in Gaza City and Bait Lahiya, ESPL serves as a beacon for Palestinian cultural heritage, offering dedicated spaces like the Music Corner, Reading Corner, Computer Corner, and English Language Skills Corner. It provides a nurturing environment where Palestinian youth and children can read, learn, and enhance their skills, emphasizing self-learning through modern educational methods. ESPL is a transformative hub fostering creativity and cultural exploration, empowering young people to express themselves, develop their talents, and engage deeply with arts, culture, and literature. 

The Music Corner

The Music Corner at ESPL cultivates a culture of peace and creativity in Gaza, serving as a beacon of harmony. Our state-of-the-art music education centre welcomes students each month to explore instruments such as Oud, Violin, Piano, Guitar, Organ, and Percussion, alongside choral singing, musical theatre, and vocal techniques. Located in Gaza City, our facilities cater to individuals of all ages and skill levels, establishing the Music Corner as the Number One destination for aspiring musicians in Gaza. 

The Reading Corner

In the library’s Reading Corner at ESPL, readers can immerse themselves in the captivating realm of literature, honing their skills in reading, writing, and artistic expression. This nurturing space fosters creativity and ignites a passion for storytelling and self-expression. Stocked with a diverse collection of books, the corner not only celebrates Palestinian cultural heritage but also raises awareness of its rich historical and contemporary narratives, inspiring deeper connections and appreciation among its visitors. 

The English Language Skills Corner

The English Language Skills Corner at ESPL is a dynamic hub designed to enhance language proficiency and promote effective communication in English. Through interactive and immersive activities, our corner provides a nurturing environment where learners of all levels can develop confidence in expressing themselves fluently. Beyond language skills, our program promotes cultural exchange, offering sessions and communication programs that bridge understanding between Palestinians and international visitors. By sharing Palestinian culture and perspectives, we aim to raise awareness and foster deeper connections with global communities. 

The Computer Corner

The Edward Said Public Library offers the “International Computer Driving License (ICDL)” course, a rigorous program designed to empower participants with essential computer skills and prepare them to excel in the ICDL exam under expert guidance. Participants learn fundamental computer basics and master key Office programs like Microsoft Word and Excel. Additionally, our Computer Corner engages children with interactive e-games, providing a playful introduction to technology and laying the foundation for digital literacy.
